Blues & Rhythm Review (UK) - Aug, 2012
by Norman Darwen
Canadian born Michael "Guitar Mikey" McMillan, now resident in Clarksdale, Mississippi by way of Boston and Chicago, plays what he described as a hybrid blues, by which I guess he is referring to the way several tracks here are more rock oriented than blues - though there is nothing here to offend lovers of contemporary blues on this all original 15 track CD, even if the title track is a curious mix of 80s pop, blues and tango. On some of the more straightforward blues numbers, he enlists people such as Bob Margolin (an excellent Muddy-styled 'The Bigger Fool'), Super Chikan, bassist Terry "Big T" Williams, excellent harpman Billy Gibson and pianist David Maxwell, and four numbers have Nellie "Tiger" Travis helping out on vocals.
